New Youth Protection Training Policy Effective June 1, 2012 - Adult applications must be accompanied by a valid Youth Protection Training certificate. Adult applications received without the certificate will not be accepted or processed, but returned to the applicant or unit. For more information, click here.
Exploring Registration Fee Increase Effective July 1
The National Council, BSA has announced that the Exploring registration fee for all youth and adults will be increased to $15, from its current $10, effective July 1, 2012.
Community Service Project Opportunity: May 19 Illinois State Beach Park Clean-up
Is your unit doing a community service project this Spring? The United Way of Lake County is looking for Scouts and Scouters to assist with a beach sweep along Lake Michigan on Saturday, May 19, from 9:00am - noon. Volunteers need to bring work gloves. Bags will be provided. Families with their children are welcome to attend. The address is 1 Lake Front Drive, Zion Illinois. Meet at the picnic area below the park office building. NYLT is a six-day course scheduled for June 17 - 23, 2012 in Camp Wabaningo of our Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation. For 2012, we are planning for one course of 48 participants. For more info click here.
2012 Kodiak Challenge is a 7 day course scheduled for June 23-30 based out of Camp Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan. The treck is a float trip down the Flambeau River. Kodiak is for Venturers or Boy Scouts 14-21 years old. It is an adventure that pushes the boundaries of every participant while imparting leadership skills. www.neic.org/kodiak for more information and to register.
