Update on BSA Membership Policy
As you may have seen in the news, the Boy Scouts of America announced that we have removed the birth certificate requirement from registration, which may result in the registration of transgender youth. We will follow the gender that the parent has indicated on the registration form.
Our Chief Scout Executive, National President and National Commissioner, along with other team members, have worked tirelessly to evaluate this issue to come up with the best possible solution for our youth and the Boy Scouts of America. They have consulted with a number of our key Charter partners, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This issue was developing quickly and demanded a response from the National Organization.
If you hear from the press, feel free to refer them to me or firstname.lastname@example.org. The Boy Scouts of America will continue to support its Charter Organizations’ rights to uphold their beliefs in determining members who may participate.
This is the message sent from our Chief Scout Executive, Mike Surbaugh to BSA employees. Please see links below for more information.
